Five Fall Outerwear Essentials
By: Alex Germain
It’s that time of year: the leaves are changing, the weather’s getting colder, and you’re too stressed with midterms. It’s fall! While the cold rain is a brutal change from the warm breeze of summer, it also gives us an opportunity to shift up our wardrobe, and further express ourselves through our personal style. Personally, I love the opportunity to layer up in the fall, and what better way to finish off an outfit than with some outerwear. In this article, I’ll be going over 5 fall outerwear essentials you should grab for your closet.
1. Puffer Jacket
If you want to beat the Boston winter, you’re gonna need a good winter coat. However, this doesn’t have to be boring. Picking up a puffer jacket can give your outfit an athleisure feel, and they always pair well with more casual trousers or sweats. If you still want the protection of a parka, you can get a longer parka puffer, or switch it up with different colors or designs to stand out.
2. Bomber Jacket
Bomber jackets can be a great statement piece for your outfit, and help give your look a more casual, streetwear feel. Whether a more traditional flight jacket or a more sophisticated monochrome look, a bomber jacket is sure to elevate your style. They also pair well with vintage-washed denim and simple sneakers for a classic look.
3. Trench Coat
A staple of many fall wardrobes, trench coats can help you achieve that classic cozy fall look. Their length can help protect you against the cold, they can be dressed up or dressed down, and come in a variety of styles and silhouettes. Basically, you can’t go wrong!
4. Chore Coat
If you wanna take your style in a more workwear direction, chore coats are the perfect fit for you. Often made from heavy canvas, they’ll last a long time, and are sure to keep you warm. Pair them with some baggier denim and some boots, and you got a fall workwear look that’ll never go out of style.
5. Trucker Jacket
Another fall staple, the trucker jacket can be an essential piece of a great fall outfit. They come in a variety of washes and styles, with the jacket below being a cropped dark wash piece from Rag and Bone. Some are also lined with insulation, helping you stay warm while looking your best. Pair it with some casual trousers for an everyday look, or if you’re feeling bold you can go full denim.
