“We are the world’s sexiest brand,” said Hillary Super, one of Victoria’s Secret’s creative directors, and boy, is she right. VS’s rebrand of its iconic runway show– following its shutdown in 2019 due to controversy and declining ratings– is back in full swing, and this year, we were given a show sent from the heavens. VS carefully considered last year’s criticisms, where the general consensus about the 2024 show was: “Enough with the slickback hairstyles,” and “Where did the wings go?” Although VS has now shifted its focus to pride its brand on diversity and inclusion, many are still not pleased.

Our Usual Angels
This year, the runway was studded with the usual angelic icons such as Adrianna Lima, Bella and Gigi Hadid, and Candice Swanepoel.
Bella showed off her new bronzed and blonde bombshell look, looking fierce in red and angelic in white and silver.
An Intersectionality of Femininity and Strength

History was made this year as a sporty edge was brought to the runway– 23-year-old WNBA star Angel Reese, the first pro-athlete to walk for VS, sported a rose bikini and boa, along with a lacey pink set featuring silver, transparent, and white wings.

Additionally, Olympian Suni Lee walked for PINK in low-rise navy shorts, a cropped bright pink tank top, and a pink zip-up. These two ladies made history, battling the misconception that you can’t be both strong and sexy.

Pretty in PINK
VS’s younger sister, PINK, brought a sporty-collegiate vibe this year. Influencer, model, and nepo-baby galore took the runway in thigh-highs and lace-up heels. Angels such as Barbie Ferrera, Lila Moss, and Suni Lee showed what it was like to be pretty in PINK.

Heavenly Voices
This year, the angels were joined on the runway with all female artists, including singers Madison Beer, Karol G, Missy Elliot, and K-pop group TWICE.

Mamacita?
Jasmine Tooks opened the VS 2025 show, taking mother-of-pearl seriously, glowing in a golden and pearly look while proudly showing off her baby bump.
A Rebrand for the Better?
Now more than ever, VS is taking its past criticisms of a lack of diversity to heart. This year, angels of all shapes, races, and ethnicities came together in a uniquely beautiful way. Additionally, transgender model Alex Consani spread her wings for a second time on the VS runway, making history for the transgender community. However, there isn’t a unanimous opinion on VS’s rebrand: “Repackaging your brand's most controversial product in inclusive wrapping paper doesn't actually address why it needed to be cancelled in the first place,” said Naomi May in an Elle article. Many of the controversies surrounding the VS runway show are inherent in the idea of women walking down a runway in lingerie, feeding into fantasy and the male gaze, and now have less to do with issues of diversity and inclusivity. Some people believe that some things should just be left in their controversial graves.
