Have you noticed that the air in Boston has felt different since Friday night? The weather’s getting chilly, and the Sox are seeing October for then first time since 2021. Within the hope for a long postseason run, a crucial question emerges: what are we wearing?!
This isn't just about throwing on any old jersey (though, we love a classic). This is about crafting a look that's as fierce as the team on the field. It's about being comfortable enough for extra innings, but stylish enough to turn heads on Lansdowne Street. Consider this your ultimate style playbook for showing up and showing out.
The Style Lineup: Your Go-To Game Day Formulas
Let's move beyond the basics. Here are a few curated outfits to get you started, whether you're a classic baseball purist or entirely there for the beer and vibes.

A Red Sox-themed tee or tank with a tennis skirt or jean shorts is perfect for sunny afternoon games. No sox tee? No problem! Any Boston University red tee implies Boston support. Plus, now that the team is sporting Fenway Greens, Celtics tees are on the table!

Evening games get chilly! Layering is your best friend. A bomber jacket adds a street-style edge and a zip up can be easily removed if the crowd's energy warms you up.
Let’s be real. Most postseason games are going to be viewed from our TVs. Host a party, or invite a few friends over, but always show out! Pair a current or vintage jersey with your best comfortable jeans for the base, and do not forget to accessorize! Red ribbons, face paint, braids, and of course red socks!
An outfit isn't complete without the finishing touches.
This is where you can really let your personal style shine:

The Hat: A classic Red Sox cap is a non-negotiable for many. Whether you wear it straight, backwards, or with your ponytails sticking out the sides, it’s the ultimate symbol of your fandom.
The Bag: Want to skip the long lines into your gate? Ditch your bag— your pockets are your friends! If you really think you cant get through the game without it, stick to a small backpack or crossbody. The shorter your inspection, the quicker you get to your seats!
The Extras: Don’t forget sunglasses for those daytime games. Since many games begin before sunset and end after, a light scarf or pullover will come in handy, even if it seems unnecessary when the game starts in 4 pm heat!

How could I expect you all to listen to me without showing my credibility?

I grew up a baseball fan, but most importantly, I’ve been supporting America’s greatest baseball team this whole time. Since starting at BU in September 2022, I’ve seen over 25 games and I throw fits each and every time. Don’t just believe me. Here’s my proof:
Remember, being a Cosmopolitan-style fan isn't just about the clothes—it's about the confidence. Never make it obvious if you don’t know your baseball stuff! It’s knowing you look good, and walking into the park as if you own the place. Especially during playoffs, it’s important to have your fun in the roar of the crowd, while keeping some attention on who’s on base and the crack of the bat.
Your outfit is your armor. So, whether you're repping a clean '47 Brand hat, or you've masterfully layered a jersey over a striped sweater, own it. The playoffs are a spectacle, and you are part of the show.
And remember!! GO SOX!!
