Zendaya's Fashion Evolution: The Highs & The Lows

Updated: Mar 1, 2022

For many of us, if not all, we are constantly enthralled by Zendaya whether it be her acting capabilities or presence on the carpet. From her initial beginnings on Disney’s Shake It Up, we have watched her grow to where she is today all while elevating her style through frequent collaborations with Valentino and Versace.

Zendaya’s first movie premiere was back in 2010 where she was decked out in pieces she already had from Target. Given the trends and her being 14 years old at the time I believe that she captured the zeitgeist of fashion in 2010. Since her initial appearance Zendaya has continued to elevate her wardrobe as the years went on–matching trends, wearing statement pieces, and her take on camp. With every event Zendaya is at, we are constantly in awe of what she shows up wearing; Sometimes the pieces are breathtaking that we don’t think she can top it, but time after time Zendaya proves us wrong.

Depending on who you ask, there will always be disagreements on what people believe to be her best look. That being said, I do believe that there is some general consensus of shared favorite looks. One of those being her 2019 Met Gala look–the iconic light-up Cinderella dress designed by Tommy Hilfiger. In addition, having her stylist, Law Roach, dress up as her fairy godmother to transform to light up her dress with his wand, completely elevated the entire look.

Given her recent release of Spiderman: No Way Home and Euphoria, Zendaya has blessed us with new looks whether they be on the carpet for a press release or a talk show/interview. While everybody has their own takes on what her best look is, the bottom line is that she can pull off any look and repeatedly catches everyone's attention through her aura.

My personal favorite Zendaya looks she has worn on the carpet have been those of recent press releases. Her Maison Valentino dress paying homage to her role in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the captivating two-piece set by Vivienne Westwood worn for the Dune premier event in London, the Balmain leather dress for the Dune premiere at the Venice Film Festival supporting the wet look, and her breathtaking 2019 Emmy’s look in a Vera Wang gown are my current all time favorites. Whether you’re a Zendaya fan or have a passion for fashion, we can all agree that we can’t wait to see what she wears next.
