Believe it or not, Halloween is right around the corner! If you are suddenly looking for costumes online and are finding that none of them will arrive at your door by October 31st, we’ve got you covered. Here are some simple yet creative costume ideas for this Halloween, many of which could be curated with items you might find in your closet. If not, I hope these ideas can help you pick out some items as you visit the nearest stores for a last-minute costume.
Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Audrey Hepburn’s iconic look from the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s never gets old. To recreate this look, the first step is to find a black dress. The type of dress is totally up to you. If you are seeking to make your look as close to Audrey’s as possible, find a long black dress with a high neckline. If you want to recreate this look in a more casual way, go for a mini black dress or even an off-the-shoulder dress.
You definitely cannot forget about the pearls when it comes to this look. Wrapping a long pearl necklace in various loops would be ideal to resemble Audrey, but even a single loop of pearl necklace is enough to suggest that you are dressed up as Audrey Hepburn.
The late Karl Lagerfeld, with his breathtaking works for Chanel, is a legend in the fashion industry. His look had been quite consistent throughout his life as a designer, creating his usual fit iconic enough for a costume. Simply gather a white shirt, black tie, and a suit. Top off your look with classy sunglasses and tie your hair in the back (or get a white wig if you can). If you happen to own anything from Chanel or even a white cat (to commemorate his beloved pet Choupette) add them to your look to celebrate Karl!
Angel and Devil
If you are looking to dress up with someone as a duo, find a white and black wing from stores such as Amazon, Party City, Walmart, or Target. Then, look through each other’s closets for a top and a bottom in white and black. These looks can be rather casual, with items such as jeans and a blouse. In fact, adding a supernatural wing to a casual look might elevate this look from the “basic” concept of an angel and devil (as this duo concept has been quite popular for a considerable time).
Sun and Moon
The sun and moon are recommended for best friends or couples. Combine anything gold, orange, or yellow to create the look of the sun. For the moon, find clothes in blue, black, or silver. Accessories are essential for this look. For the sun, gold accessories are recommended while silver accessories would work better for the moon. Get creative with this look as you pull inspirations from these three patterns of the sun and the moon costume!
You will definitely be making an entrance if you come dressed up as Cruella de Vil. For this costume, make sure to have a smoke eye accompanied with a bold red lip. Let your leather jacket make an appearance (or your faux fur coat) and the rest of your look be total black. Lastly, if you can't find a black and white wig, try experimenting with hair color spray.
Sometimes, limited time and options inspire the most creative styles. Have fun dressing up and Happy Halloween!
